Actron CP9449 BrakeScan NICE PRODUCT.
This was a no brainer since all my cars were on the product application list(make sure you check the list before buying to make sure it will work with your car!). I received the product 2 days ago and it worked as expected. It diagnosed the problem to my LF Front wheel bearing, allowing me to replace only what needed replacing instead of cross my fingers and hope I replaced the right part! Easy to use display and functions. Comes with everything you need, except a 9v battery and it seems to be built well. It even comes with a nice case and English/Spanish operations manual.

Read a lot before purchase - that is I verified my vehicle covered. Plugged in.
Can't connect. Per the Ford shop manual (found online!) testing with volt/ohm-meter all results point to ABS controller. Plugged the CP9449 into my other Ford (F150) - worked fine. Sent Bosch ABS off to 'cheap-abs' and unit repaired, returned in 4 days. Installed and tested car. ABS works, Traction Control works, CP9449 found the original code "abs unit failed" - erased code and "Passed!" Drove car on wet (aka slick) road and tested brakes and traction control. Function now normal.
So, if the CP9449 doesn't read - just maybe you have a vehicle not covered OR the abs module is DECEASED. A little study goes a long way.
Side note for other ABS repairmen (or women!) The Yahoos who assembled the input brake lines overtorqued the hold downs. The hold downs actually expanded where they seat against the flare of the brake lines. Getting out somewhat damaged the threads in the aluminum hydraulic block. But after grinding down the expanded part of the screw/nuts - managed to get re-assembled and no leaks. There were enough threads left to hold. The four output brake lines only needed a wrench to loosen and final tighten when re-assembled. Note: video available to get out the Bosch ABS if you don't want to undo the brake lines. I change fluid every two years anyway so removed the whole unit. The issue with the input lines was only hassle.

First I'd like to say, that this does erase codes if you go to Actron.com and download the software and drivers and update it. That was fairly painless. Also, click on the coverage guide in the product description to make sure it works on your model of vehicle. If you do those two things, you'll be happy. Great price for being able to read and erase your own ABS codes.

Followed directions to update the machine, plugged it into truck, turned key. It quickly gave me the code with a description on an easy-to-read screen. Turned out to be a $20 DIY fix. So for ~$100 I was able to fix the problem myself and now have a scanner for future use. Shop wanted $120 just to tell me what the light meant. Worth the money although I wished I had spent more and got the one that reads OBDII AND ABS.

Good product, worked as advertised. Found my ABS problem...it was the problem I suspected but Scan Tool confirmed it along with one other small problem....saved me approx. $75 in diagnostic charges at a shop. Also saved $$ buying the parts on my own without shop markup...worth the price as other tools are more $$$ but do the same thing.

The wifes car had the ABS light on and it was concerning to her.(I normally don't get bothered by such lights) So, I did a little research on the internet and determined the problem was most likely her wheel speed sensor. Only problem with that is that there are four of them. So, the best way I found to only have to buy one wheel speed sensor($150 ea.) was to get an ABS code reader. Bought one on Amazon for around $67 and it came a week later. Plugged it in and instantly it told me the RR Wheel Sensor was faulty. Went to the auto store picked up the right rear hub with sensor, switched it out, and presto, no more wife concerning.

The ABS and TRAC OFF lights had been showing on my Grand Am since I bought it. Being a diy type I wasn't willing to pay someone just to tell me what was wrong with it, which would probably have cost more than the tool did. After receiving the tool I was pleased to find a software upgrade is available that allows it to clear trouble codes, I'm no computer whiz and I couldn't get the upgrade to work on my vista based laptop but it worked just fine on my old xp desktop, go figure! The tool showed that my right front wheel sensor was bad, after replacing the wheel hub assembly (which is some poor engineering on GM's part) I didn't even have to clear the codes, lights went out on their own. The code clear feature is good though so you can tell if you have any recurring intermittent codes. Great tool for the backyard mechanic!

Used this tool to effectively trouble shoot the ABS lamp on the dashboard of my 2003 blazer. It directed me to a defective wheel hub sensor ,where I used a multi-meter to test the sensor, and after replacement of the sensor ,problem solved.

Excellent product!!! The codes are easy to read and understand. I recommend this product from amazon.com. The product is inexpensive compared to a service tech.

I may be a bit prejudiced about the brand, as I already own and have used succesfully an Actron OBD II ECM scanner.
One sweetheart of a scanner. I've had the ABS scanner about three weeks, and have found it to be pretty useful also. The only thing I've found to be lacking, is the fact that, with a Ford, to clear the trouble codes you have to go somewhere like a dealer, or other shop possessing one of the really expensive 'Pro-grade' tools that has that capability. Considering the price of the Actron unit, this does not, in any way detract from the value of the tool. I do find that certain codes, may necessitate a trip to a dealer to have the code deciphered to high school level language, in order to fully understand what it's trying to describe. Again, not really so bad, considering the price. It was explained to me, that the vehicle manufacturer writes the codes, so this actually starts to make sense. Also, I've been advised to seek a good service manual, as an alternative to going to a dealer for this info. I can only address issues with a Ford product, as that's all I've tested, so far. I did find out that certain codes lead you to a physical problem, such as a perforated brake line. To me, this is a good thing.

This is my second Actron unit. My regular scan tool wouldn't read the brake ECM. What a great item this is. Pinpoints the problem and saves the guesswork. Gives the code and the Code explanation - "open circuit LF Speed Sensor". Sure enough the lead had broken inside the sensor plug from the harness. Also saves the history with back up 9v battery. Shows Current or history. Pays for itself with first repair. It's a wow. USB for firmware upgrade if needed. Nice case.

Works as advertised, easy to use, great price. Read the codes quickly and easily. There are only two drawbacks:
1. The list of compatible vehicles is somewhat limited and there is no guarantee that other vehicles will be added to the list.
2. The case is terrible - it's a nice looking case but it doesn't firmly hold the scanner.
Note: Make sure your vehicle is on the list of compatible vehicles.

Bought this to troubleshoot problems with a montecarlo. The tool worked great fast easy to use clear screen. plugs in the OBD2 port.I had a bad rear wheel sensor. Buying the scanner and wheel sensor was a lot cheaper than having the dealer do it.

Actron CP9449 REVIEW
Actron CP9449 worth the cost.
Well my father was having trouble with his vehicle ABS and trac light coming on so it was obvious that it was the brake/speed sensor causing it. The problem was which one was causing it. He could have took it to a dealer and paid outrageous price to diagnose and repair but I bought this item for him. after I hookeed it up, hooks in just like my OB II reader, it diagnosed the problem instantly. Tried it several times and same problem showed up. Bought a new piece from online dealer and put on his vehicle. Drove the vehicle about 100 yards and both lights went off. So for about $120 i repaired his auto and saved him lots of money and any future problems as well.
Kills me reading some of these reviews where people said it did not work but there vehicle was not on the list. Well what did you expect?

Came to find out that the people giving it bad reviews didn't go to Actron's site and check to see if it would work on their vehicle! I checked to make sure that both of my vehicles (1996 Blazer & 2000 Olds Intrigue) were covered on it. I got a good deal on it for $75.99 and it arrived in the mail today. The case that comes with it is very durable and good quality with padding to protect the scanner from bumps. People were complaining that you couldn't update it on Windows Vista, only on Windows ME & Windows XP. I downloaded the update tool from Actron site and put on my Windows Vista laptop. I used a USB cable from my camera to hook up to it. It downloaded the right drivers for it and the update program found the the new update, uninstalled the old update, and installed the new one with no problems whatsoever. My ABS brakes weren't working at all and the warning light was staying on all of the time. After I hooked it up to the OBDII port and turned the key on, it checked for trouble codes and found 5 of them! After checking all of the wiring and sensors, I deleted out all of the trouble codes and the warning light went out. So I took the vehicle for a drive and stopped hard on a gravel road. The ABS kicked in and kept me from sliding and the warning light never came back on. So I brought it back home and hooked the scanner up again--no trouble codes detected and everything is working fine!! So I am very pleased with the Actron CP9449 ABS Scanner. If the people giving it bad reviews would just take the time and READ to see if their vehicle is covered, and read Actron's instructions on putting in the new update, they shouldn't have anyone to blame but themselves if it didn't work! It works fine for me and saved me alot of money by not having to take it to a dealer and paying up the nose for hooking up to their scanner! ME? I'M A HAPPY CAMPER!! Make sure it will work on your vehicle, buy it, and READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!!

I checked before I bought this to make sure it would work on my model car. 1999 Olds Intrigue, 3.5 engine. It was easy to set up and use. It paid for itself after the 1st use. My dealer wanted $75.00 to tell me what was wrong. I paid $99.00 shipped. It told me it was the left front tire. When I pulled the wheel I found a loose connection. Boom, fixed the problem. This tool will also work on my 2004 & 2005 Suburban. Great product if your car is listed.
