Actron CP9449 Scan Tool.
I may be a bit prejudiced about the brand, as I already own and have used succesfully an Actron OBD II ECM scanner.
One sweetheart of a scanner. I've had the ABS scanner about three weeks, and have found it to be pretty useful also. The only thing I've found to be lacking, is the fact that, with a Ford, to clear the trouble codes you have to go somewhere like a dealer, or other shop possessing one of the really expensive 'Pro-grade' tools that has that capability. Considering the price of the Actron unit, this does not, in any way detract from the value of the tool. I do find that certain codes, may necessitate a trip to a dealer to have the code deciphered to high school level language, in order to fully understand what it's trying to describe. Again, not really so bad, considering the price. It was explained to me, that the vehicle manufacturer writes the codes, so this actually starts to make sense. Also, I've been advised to seek a good service manual, as an alternative to going to a dealer for this info. I can only address issues with a Ford product, as that's all I've tested, so far. I did find out that certain codes lead you to a physical problem, such as a perforated brake line. To me, this is a good thing.
